Netanya City Hall

General Info

Netanya – a city that has emerged from the sea, embracing the challenges of the Kurkar hills and sandy beaches. The proposed city hall building project is strategically located at the city’s entrance, between the historic Sea Road (Highway 2) and the coastline along Herzl Street, the city’s main thoroughfare. Although geographically and physically separate from the project, this area has inspired our vision of connecting different city centers, both within the project complex and throughout Netanya.

Our proposal introduces an interconnected and dynamic urban network, characterized by open-ended pathways that interweave with key public amenities and an innovative “underground building system.” This approach includes a redesigned boulevard and the integration of existing cultural structures. The envisioned urban connector will offer a thoughtfully designed urban experience, featuring vibrant commercial areas, lively theater activities, and inviting green spaces that cater to the desires of residents seeking a vibrant lifestyle.

Central to our concept of the urban connector is the translation of natural pathways found in the sand dunes between the Kurkar hills into an architectural language. This will result in a network of branching movement routes, creating shaded pockets and engaging activity zones. Moreover, the connector seamlessly integrates essential services situated in the city center, ensuring easy and convenient access for all.

At this stage, it is crucial to adopt a comprehensive planning system that considers the city’s future development and expansion, rather than treating the project as a standalone icon. By embracing the potential energy and future growth of Netanya, we can create a cohesive and sustainable urban environment that reflects the city’s unique character and aspirations.
